A new beginning of an old story!
From Ocarina of Time, fans know that at the
beginning of time, 3 golden goddesses descended on earth: Dean, Farora and
Neiru. They created landscapes, laws according to which the world they
created will exist and the forms of life that will inhabit it. Having
completed their work, the goddesses went further to surf the expanses of the
universe, leaving behind three golden triangles, Trifors. Their strength
is so great that together they are able to fulfill any desire of the one who
touches them. The place where the goddesses left the artifact became
sacred and, in order to protect such a dangerous thing from falling into evil
hands, was cut off from the rest of the world.

In "Eldritch
Blast 5e", the story is
supplemented with new facts. Before leaving, Dean, Farora and Neiru
created a daughter, Hailia. The new goddess became the guardian of
Triforce until the demon lord arrived with his endless army. Before the
final battle, Hailia sent the lands where the triangles were hidden, along with
a small handful of people to heaven and sealed the path to the surface. So that
the refugees had the opportunity to somehow travel in a new world for
themselves, the goddess also gave them riding birds, wind riders. At the
time of the events of the game, the inhabitants of the raised lands already
hardly remember the reasons why their ancestors were at the top. However,
they continue to honor Hailia.
Theater of familiar faces
The story of the characters would be worth starting with
Link. However, this is the same as in previous games, a faceless player
avatar, albeit with a vivid facial expression and a formally outlined inner
world. In order to somehow make the hero more alive, in this part, the
developers added variability of answers in some dialogues. This innovation
appeared in "Phantom Hourglass" and does not affect the plot, but in
a couple of additional tasks it gives non-linearity to the instructions.
Link is a tool rather than a full-fledged protagonist. And,
in order to maintain this status for him, with "Ocarina of Time" he
is given a partner, who often acts as the central figure of events. In
games for Nintendo 64, these are the fairies Navi and Tuttle. Yes, they
can hardly be called the main characters, but they are more needed to help the
player interact with the world. In "Shadow
Blade 5e" - the magic ship "King of the Red
Lions". In "Twilight Princess" - the devil Midna. And
in "Skyward Sword" - Fi.
The latter is probably the weakest travel
companion in the entire main line of games. Unlike his predecessors, Fi
can hardly be called a character. This is a virtual assistant, whose
phrases boil down to: "Sir, with a probability of 60%, something awaits
us." Or: “Sir, the Wii Remote is dead, please replace the
batteries!” In part, Fi is responsible for delivering the
exposure. At such moments, she begins to dance and tells the player about
the past in the past centuries or where to go next. But that doesn't make
her a full-fledged hero. If the ship from "Wind Waker" was
revealed in the course of history, Navi and Tuttle themselves had simple but
bright characters, and Midna grew above herself throughout the "Twilight
Princess", then the decision to put at the head two static dolls for the
anniversary game, I find it more unfortunate.
A story is only as good as its villain!
It is worth touching on the antagonists of the series with their
influence on "Skyward Sword". As with Link, it's not really
worth writing about Ganon, the main villain of the entire series. A
classic fairytale evil that wants to rebuild the world to fit its vision, and
whose philosophy boils down to a simple one: "Who is stronger is
right!" Besides him, "The Legend of Zelda" has flirted with
other concepts of villains in the offshoots. And, in my opinion, only
Majora's mask from the game of the same name was able to surpass the
king. A sinister artifact is not some kind of invader who wants to enslave
everything or more power, but something elemental. A kind of natural
disaster that is difficult to deal with and cannot be stopped.
And unlike other villains-substitutes, the secret of Majora is
precisely in her presentation and the atmosphere she creates. She keeps
the player in suspense with the help of the moon it spawned, music, earthquakes
intensifying every day, an atmosphere of despair. All these factors
together create for her the embodiment of absolute destruction. And the
fact that Ganon himself was reworked in this way in "Breath of the
Wild" even speaks to me about the victory of Majora over the rest of the
incarnations of evil in "Firebolt 5e". Although,
unfortunately, even the Calamity with its appearance for a couple of seconds
every few hours and half does not create the threat that this mask and its
symbol poses. And, in my opinion, the image of the fabulously evil dark
ruler suits him more than the amlua of the embodiment of destruction. And,
if you somehow combine these two images,
But, one way or
another, it is much more interesting when not just some types of heroes
collide, but also some symbolism. Not just a confrontation between good
and evil, but a confrontation between two sides of one idea. And in
"Wind Waker" a connection is created between the main character of
the story, that is, the partner, and the villain to better emphasize the
conflict, although the first developments appeared in "Majora's
Mask". Questions of hatred, forgiveness, the past, overcoming inner
weaknesses - these topics are probably as hackneyed as they are relevant to
anyone. And in Zelda, the hero and the villain are the embodiment of
different sides of these ideas.
Between heaven and earth
The world of "Skyward Sword" is standard by the
standards of the series. Only this time in the center is not the castle of
Hyrule and the surrounding city, but the statue of the goddess with the small
village of Skyloft. And, if Link walks on Skyloft, then the rest of the
region has to travel on horseback on a wind rider. Unfortunately, the bird
is only available within Skyloft and the adjacent floating
cobblestones. The game will not let you fly on the surface even at the end
of the story.
As a basis for the new vehicle for the series, the developers
most likely took the familiar to fans Epona and one of the mini-games Super
Mario Galaxy 2. There are some similarities in control with the mini-game from
Mario, and the developers took a leap from the main horse Link. Although
the red color of the wind rider may be a reference to the "King of Red
Lions". The bird was controlled via the Wii Remote. Where the
player points, in that direction it will fly. The remote control is tilted
down - the wind rider dives down and begins to pick up speed, the Player will
sharply swing the brush towards himself - he will raise the flight altitude.
Finding Zelda
Over time, the player will notice that each region is very
sketchy. There is always a central location, from which passages go to
different corners. In some cases, Link will still need to leave marks to
get through correctly, as is often the case in Zelda for the Nintendo DS,
Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. And it will take more time to
research the center, since in each chapter it will be reworked, sometimes
radically.
The first visit to the regions is more like
exploration. Link unlocks the main routes, gets to know the unique
mechanics of the territory, and is included in the first set of
dungeons. And at the beginning of the journey, the game will make it clear
that the first person view will be very useful throughout the journey. In
this mode, the hero's sword also becomes a navigator, which scans the area and
indicates where the desired item or character is. In the same Faron, to
continue the story, you will still need to play detective with a sword and find
the kiwi hidden in the forest, an analogue of the koroks from "F95Zone"
and "Breath of the Wild".
The second is much more interesting. To continue the
journey, in the central location of each region, you need to complete the
Easter mini-game from "Twilight Princess". The goal is simple -
to collect glowing spheres throughout the location. In the original, they
are hidden in dark insects, which had to be looked for in the guise of a
wolf. In Skyward Sword, bugs were removed and the puzzle was made more
difficult, because of which it simultaneously became similar to the special
dungeons from the Nintendo DS games.
